Alvin SAM Obituary

SAM, Alvin It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Alvin Sam at the Yee Hong Centre in Mississauga on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at the age of 88. Husband to the late Katherine (2015); Loving father to Charlene (Douglas) and Philip; doting grandfather to Heather (Justin), Scott, and Reid McInroy; recent great-grandfather to Liam; dear brother to Steven (Sally); uncle to Colin (Gail) and Michelle (Damon); beloved godfather to Olivia (Jerry). Born in 1933, Alvin immigrated to Toronto from Guangdong, China at the age of 16. He worked hard to provide a good life for his family, starting in the family grocery store on St. Clair Ave. to many years with Oshawa Foods before finishing his career with Ontario Produce (the Food Terminal). In retirement, Alvin enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, regular games of mah jong with his friends. He loved to spoil all the children in his life. Alvin had a strong sense of tradition and family values and was happiest when he was with loved ones. Alvin will be a memorable figure in the lives he touched. He will be forever in the hearts of his family and friends. The funeral will be for family only. For visitation details, please visit www. etouch.ca In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made in his memory to the Yee Hong Foundation at https://www.yeehong.com/donation-form/

I remember buying a sparkly sweater for Kathy for xmas one year and then when we went out for xmas dinner Alvin was wearing it. Didn't have the heart to tell him but it was a funny memory I'll never forget. Alvin was very generous. He would never let you pay for a meal and would always remember your favorite dishes and order it when you went out again. Alvin will always be family to me and missed. Love leslie
