Dear Marcia and family. I am sorry for your loss. David was an inspiring, energetic and enthusiastic lecturer and later a wonderful colleague. I am fortunate to have benefitted from his Commonwealth History expertise and often recall his good advice, emerging theories and snippets of information that he sent my way. Thinking of you. With kind regards, Katie Pickles

Dear Marcia,
I am sad to learn that David passed away. I heard it first at the Canterbury Historical Foundation AGM. My thoughts are with you.
I will never forget how David "chased" me to become the next secretary of the NZIIA. It changed many things in my life after taking on the role. You were so helpful to reveal all the secretary's rules, duties, and don'ts and I will never forget that you both have taken me out of my comfort zone and given me more self-confidence. Even when English is my second language, you gave me the impression that my skills are that well that I can take on the position. Thank you both for that.
In loving memory
Ursula (Rack)

So sorry Marcia and family of the passing of David. He will be sorely missed by you all. We will certainly miss meeting and having our beautiful "hot chocolates" with you both when next we are in Wellington City. Sorry we won´t be there on Monday, but we will definitely be watching the Live Stream. Love Bev and Graeme xx

David was a fine historian and a real gentleman. I could not have wished for a kinder and wiser supervisor. I will always be very grateful for all that he did for me.

Dear Marcia & family. I am sad to read of David's passing. Have lovely memories of the help that David & yourself gave to me at the NZIIA over the years. His knowledge was always appreciated. I can still hear his laugh at some joke that would pop up in our conversations. RIP David.
