Was sad to see this have known Alex for 30 years through rugby & golf, I will miss his laugh on the course my condolences to Heather & the family

To Heather and family. My sincere condolences to you all. Sorry for your loss. I first met Alex at Ross Intermediate School when my two younger sisters Charlene and Terene attended school. I worked as a teacher aide at Ross for about three years. We also played darts on Wednesday night at the manawatu darts association hall on Tremaine Ave. I remember your wicked sense of humour and was the entertainment in the staff room but most of all, I still have the secret Santa gift that I got from you at Ross. (A very rude key ring). I will cherish that and it will remind me of you. R.I.P Alex.

Heather, this is very sad news, my deepest condolences to you and the family.

Very sad to hear of the passing of my very last teacher at what was Highbury School now Te Kura o Wairau. I was a pupil at Room 3 between 1999-2000. Was a brilliant teacher who did his best to better his students. Will never forget December 2000 when I visited. I walked from Room 5 (Mrs Rolfe) to Room 3 and as soon as a former classmate of mine saw me, everyone of them left their desk and sat on the floor before I ever came in. And to have the privilege to sit with this gentleman and catch up with my classmates is a moment I will never forget. My thoughts and prayers are with the Ayerst whanau and friends. Will be dearly missed. Rest In Peace Mr Ayerst. I´ll see you in Heaven Room 3.
