Sincere condolences to Gaylene and family on the sad loss of John whom we met in the mid 60's...Although we have not maintained regular contact sine moving to Australia in 1981 we have always considered John and Gaylene as dear friends...I was a Policeman in Taupo when we met .. John said he always wanted to be a Policeman and I always wanted to be a Jockey...Highly unlikely having regard to our respective builds. ...Absence makes the heart grow fonder they say...It certainly hadn't dulled our caring of this wonderful family..Brian and Thelma Field and Family

On behalf of the Waghorn family, John was a very talented and caring man and a wonderful family friend. So many childhood memories were created around him and his family whether a neighbourhood bbq or a children´s birthday parties inclusive of a magic show.
Growing up as kids having a pool table was great and it made for many fun filled afternoons.

I am so sorry to hear this news. My thoughts are with you all at the loss of such a loved and treasured husband, Dad, Grandad and Father in law. I will always remember how welcome I was made to feel at your house. Thank you for that, especially because we were noisy teenagers. Mr Humphries you always had a twinkle in your eye and a great sense of humour and I really enjoyed your magic shows. I think I was even one of your assistants in one show! Your girls were so lucky to have such a wonderful, kind and talented role model to look up to. May you rest in peace Mr Humphries. To Gaylene, Donna, Debbie and Lani, my thoughts are with you all and I hope you can take comfort in each other at this sad time and remember all the wonderful memories you have of your amazing, kind and talented Dad.
