He was my Principal at Middleton Grange School from 1977 to 1983. A Sometimes fearsome but good and kind man. I have worked in many schools since, and he has been the best Principal I have known. He used to glide down the assembly hall in his black gown as he entered. Every day at school we saw him. A great man, founder of a great school
and happy memories. God bless you, always.

Eric was a school "builder" as MGS expanded while we were still a private school. All staff from groundsman to teachers had faith to the
point of not accepting a large salary increase, enabling the Board of Governors to go hard with building expansion. Eric strove to have the best output from all pupils, whether it was scholastic work, choral precision, or sporting activities. After retirement Eric still did some teaching along with passing on his ideas which put God´s truth at the centre of education.
He and Norma were wonderful gardeners and reformed their property as good as a city botanical park. I believe Eric wrote a book about the Dunedin botanical gardens.
Eric also wrote the book about the MGS development, the foundation for others to add later details.
Carol joins me in sending our condolences to all the family members. Eric was an unswerving man of faith and an example to those who worked with him.
