To Margaret and John, our sympathy to you all in the passing of Mia. We both knew her as the postal lady and also knew Mia as a Cub Leader in 1st Hawera Scouts when I was a Scout Leader there and Maureen knew her when From when she was Secretary for the Scouts paper and bottle committee. I remember Mia looked after the Scouts and Cubs on 2 nights and organized games etc while 1st Hawera advertised to the Scout and Cub families of a family night but the hidden agenda was really an Annual General Meeting . It worked for 2 years in a row and we had people volunteering to go on the Committee. The leaders and old committee were impressed and it worked. Mia was a great Cub Leader for many years for 1st Hawera and well loved by the Cubs. Her dedication to the Scouting Movement in 1st Hawera was very much appreciated. Sorry we cant be there on Wednesday. John and Maureen Simmons.

sad news Margie, John, and family. Can still see Mia's morning smile she gave me when opening the 'mail door' at the post office, and I recall her easy conversation when our paths often crossed in these later years. My condolences to you and yours- RIP little Mia.

Hi John and Margie. I was so saddened to hear of Mia's passing. I have such fond memories of Mia babysitting myself and my sister Judy when we lived in Hawera. Our parents were great friends and our combined families spent summer holidays up at the Bach at Urenui. Mia was the friendliest postie in Hawera without a doubt. Big hugs to you both and I know Mia will leave such a hole in your family.

Margie, how sad I am to see Mia has passed. She was our postie for so many years, and I always enjoyed meeting her at the letterbox for a chat, then later on in town for a catch up over the years after I left Hawera. Mia was a truly beautiful person...always smiling.. and will be very missed. May she rest in peace, and wonderful memories, and the love of family and friends help you navigate through this difficult time. Sending love to you all.
