Sheila Bryan Moose Kernersville - Mrs. Sheila B. Moose, age 83, completed her journey and woke up to her Savior early Thursday morning, January 29, 2026. She was born in Edgecombe County on June 15, 1942 to Ambler and Marshall Dixie Bryan.
In her early years, Sheila started playing piano and organ for local churches. Later, she attended Barton College and received her Bachelor of Science degree. An accomplished and talented musician, she served as organist for Arlington Street Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, North Carolina for twenty-one years. She also taught music for Edgecombe County Public Schools for a brief time and later relocated to the triad area where she taught in the Forsyth County school system for twenty years. Making her new home in Kernersville, she served at First Baptist Church for thirty-two years. During these times, she continued sharing her gift and love of music with students in her home for over fifty years. Sheila understood that music is more than technical skill-it is a language of emotion, love, and connection, and a beautiful gift best used to serve and worship Christ. Her love and dedication to her faith and family will be a legacy we gratefully carry with us for the rest of our days.
In addition to her parents, Sheila was preceded in death by her children, Jeffrey Thomas Turner and Sherri Lynn Turner Joyner, and step-son, Joel Moose.
She leaves a lifetime of cherished memories for her devoted husband of thirty-eight years, Ed Moose; step-son, Eddie Moose and wife, Michelle of Kenly; grandchildren, Taylor Moose, Leanne Meserve, Ben Meserve, TJ Moose, and Sarah Moose; great-grandchildren, Lorelai, Lincoln, and Lenny Moose; son-in-law, Kenneth "Buck" Joyner of Rocky Mount; along with many family friends and other extended relatives.
A service to celebrate Sheila's life and pay tribute to her memory will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, February 4, at NorthSide Church, 1660 Beaver Pond Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. Interment will follow at Pineview Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Arlington Baptist Church, 1500 Bethlehem Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27803.
