Joy Yucus, 86, of rural Princeton, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.
A graveside service for Joy will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 26th, at Valley Memorial Park Cemetery in Spring Valley. Deacon John Murphy will officiate.
The Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley, is honored to be assisting Joy's family at this time.
Joy was born in Tiskilwa, IL on September 17, 1938, to Hollis and Rebecca (Greathouse) Murphy. She married Peter Richard Yucus on September 12, 1964 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Seatonville.
Joy had worked as a loan officer for First State Bank in Princeton for 18 years. She never met a stranger and was always willing to have a conversation with anyone. She enjoyed crocheting and was involved with the crocheting class in Princeton for many, many years. She loved watching tennis on television as well as basketball, especially the Chicago Bulls. Joy was also a fixture on Green River Lines bus trips to watch musicals and enjoy shopping trips. She always looked forward to going out to eat with her husband, Rich. She loved her grand kids and will be fondly remembered for always being family oriented.
Survivors include her husband, Rich; her two sons, Dr. Chad Yucus and Michael (Rachel) Yucus; her two grandchildren, Connor and Alexa; and two nephews, Jerry and John Hooker.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty; a niece, Glynnia; and a nephew, Jack.
Memorial donations in honor of Joy may be directed to the
American Heart Association.
