CALDWELL, Douglas George

On May 10, 2022, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at Albarosa Rest Home, aged 94 years. Dearly loved husband of Helen, loved and respected father and father-in-law of Mark, Dwight and Lily, Aaron, Melissa and Steven, much loved grandad of Zarija, Alexander, Oliver, and Trinity; Oskar; and Georgia. Special thanks to all the staff at Albarosa for the wonderful care given to Doug. Messages may be addressed to The Family of the late Doug Caldwell, c/- PO Box 39001, Christchurch 8545. In accordance with Doug's wishes a private family service has been held.

I´m am the daughter of Raymond and Shirley Williams. We lived in Christchurch, NZ from 1948 until 1954. My Mother sang with Doug for most of those years and made records. I had a great fondness for Doug and knew how talented he was and much love and talent he gave to anew Zealand. My Mother, Shirley has been gone for 11 years, but I would like to send condolences to the Caldwell family on the loss of a wonderful man, husband/father/grandfather and famous maestro of New Zealand from the Williams family. He will be sorely missed.

Much sympathy from here in the US from one of your former Grants Road neighbors, back in the 60s and 70s. I think I might still owe Doug $5 for gas (for the last 40 plus years)

Sad to learn of the passing of Doug, and with sincere condolences to his family. I had the priviledge of playing in Doug's small group many times. Such indelible & delightful memories, not only the joy of his wonderful music, but being in the company of such a clever, charismatic and friendly man. RIP Doug
