I visited Ngaire in her classroom at College Street and was struck by the way she quietly maintained the attention of the children. And, of course, there was the hockey and Scott's Mum when I was teaching at Russell Street. I was always appreciative of her generous spirit, always seeing the best. I trust Gisborne and Hawera are treating the Cravens well.

Mrs Craven was without doubt the most influential teacher I had a college at normal. I have thought about her often in the 41 years since she taught me.
