It was with sadness that I heard of Pete's death and my condolences to family and friends. Pete spent a number of years working part-time at Otukaikino - Living Memorial (located at 985 Main Road Belfast). Pete was a great team member when doing wetland weed work, often working in difficult conditions but always with a smile, a positive attitude and in the deep water his height was an advantage. Due to his height and relatively small boot size (9) we had a special set of waders made for Pete. After Pete stopped working at the reserve the waders were left hanging on the wall as no one could fit them, that's until the 23/12/2024 when a visitor from USA wanted to come out with me into the wetland and we found Pete's waders fitted him.
As well as wetland work Pete was involved in tree planting and it's lovely to think that Pete helped contribute to what we can see around us at the reserve today.
Many thanks Pete

Hey Petey Boi,
Welcome to 2025, you nearly made it but not quite.
Our daily musings from the 'Psalms' will never be the same again, and while you physically are not there, your light, essence and spirit still is.
Our own selfishness dictates our sadness at your loss, while we should be celebrating your life and that you are now free of earthly concerns and physical distress.
As with us all, you were unique, and your presence and influence touched so many and is always with us.
You were deeply loved by family, friends and acquaintances.
You left an indelible impression on all who knew and loved you.
Much love from us all,Rita,Anja,Tom,Mark,Marianne,Megan,Susan, myself,Stephanie,Nicholas,Patrick,Alexandra, cousins,Uncles and Aunties, extended family members and your close circle of friends.
You are missed terribly, but your light shines on.
Fly well my dear brother, and until we meet again,
Much love.
Paul.
