I was very sad to wake up to the news of Ann's passing this morning.
My late parents, Bob and Ellen Alexander, were great friends of Barry and Ann. There were the family barbecues at Plimmerton, summer meet ups in Taupo, and Barry occasionally joining the annual Easter trips with Bob and his friends to the West Coast. So many wonderful memories and an abundance of 70's walk shorts.
Barry and Ann were stellar hosts, and knew how to put on a great social gathering. Barry's gentle, caring nature, mixed with Ann's wry humour and salt of the earth character, always made for a good time.
Two families entwined for many decades of friendship was very special, and I know how much my parents valued that. Ann's passing is the end of an era for both families.
The last time I saw Barry was at Bob's funeral in 2019, where he spoke very eloquently of their friendship. Loyalty was something both Barry and Ann had in spades, and I think their generation did too.
Sending all my love to Ann's children on the loss of your dear Mum. Gone but never forgotten.
Moe mai ra Ann.
