Dear Anne, Tony and Family
I was so sorry to learn of your Mum's passing. So many happy memories of Hawera days. She was a second Mum to all of us who partied hard from Wednesday to Sunday at the Central. Great memories of a special lady.

In Loving Memory of Our Beautiful Mum/Gran

Mum/Gran was many things - bold, social, adventurous, loyal, cheeky, and full of life right to the very end. She didn´t just live... she lived well.
Mum/Gran had an incredible appetite for experience and joy. She ticked off bucket list dreams with style - travelling overseas, floating high in hot air balloons, dancing whenever music was nearby, and never missing an opportunity to raise a glass (especially if brandy was involved). If there was laughter in a room, chances are Mum/Gran was either at the centre of it or leading it.
She loved her people fiercely. Family and friends meant everything to her, and her calendar was often full of card games, bowls days, golf rounds (in the earlier days), staunch commentary on rugby games, catch-ups and a good gossip, celebrations and social gatherings. Mum/Gran had a gift for making people feel welcome, included and entertained - and she always had a story, a laugh, or a mischievous comment ready to go.
What we will miss most is her warmth, her humour, her spark, and the way she reminded us not to take life too seriously. She showed us how to embrace adventure, enjoy the moment, cherish friendships, squeeze every drop of fun out of the days we´re given and work through that bucket list with delight.
Mum/Gran leaves behind the McEwan and White family, including Anne (daughter), Tony (son-in-law), Nicola, Jamie, Justin and Emma (grandchildren and their partners), and Keira, Addison, Jackson, Dillon, Sloane and Braxton (great-grandchildren) who absolutely adored her, along with countless friends who will feel her absence deeply, and a legacy of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories.
We will carry her spirit forward in shared stories, clinking glasses, spontaneous dances, and in choosing joy and a little bit of mischief whenever we can.
Rest easy, Mum/Gran. You did life beautifully.

Independent to the core,
Now I only knew for a short while
In her 96 years
Looking after her at Winara.
But they were fantastic times.
She was one of my biggest supporters,
Would always ask how I was,
And how my family was.
She always wanted something to do
And was always wanting to help
Even if she couldn't.
We had some great times, and sad times
But we were friends.
She absolutely loved my entertaining
And I would always go that extra mile, like so many
To do something for her.
When I left last year,
Like so many,
She was absolutely devastated
But I promised to come and see her when I could.
Her and one from the hospital happened to catch
My last concert a few months back.
I visited her just two weeks ago
And her first words were' i was just saying Oden hadnt been up in ages,
And my last words to her were'Keep on trucking and raising hell
You too', she said

So Fay,
One of my true supporters and friend,
I say,
Rest now,
I will never forget the lessons and memories we shared
And the conversations,
All I can now say it was an absolute honor to have known you
And if I dont get to pay my respects truthfully
I will always remember you when I listen or sing the song I'll put my boots on backwards,
You would always ask for it.
Will miss you my friend.
Rest now

For My Grandmother:
You lived your life with quiet strength,
With gentle hands and a fearless heart.
You taught me what resilience looks like,
Not in words - but in the way you lived.

You met joy with laughter,
And you met hardship with grace.
No matter what life placed before you,
You carried on with dignity and determination.

You were our anchor,
Our storyteller,
Our safe place to land.
The matriarch who held us together
And loved us without conditions.

Now you rest in peace,
But you haven´t gone far -
Because everything you were
Lives in the people you loved.

I will carry your strength with me,
Your wisdom, your softness,
Your way of turning even the hardest days
Into something survivable.

Thank you for the life you lived.
Thank you for the love you gave.
I will miss you always,
But I will honour you in every step I take.

Although her passing leaves a deep sadness, I take comfort knowing she left this world peacefully, surrounded by love. She will forever be a part of who I am.
