Thinking of you as a family during this time of loss. Gordon will be missed and remembered by me as a thoughtful, kind and knowledgeable man. He helped us with changes so many times and it was a pleasure to work with him

I can still remember the first conversation we had, when you rang to introduce yourself and told me all about your almost accidental path into IT, from a military past. I think those early experiences have helped you tremendously with your work ethic, because I know I could always count on you to step up when things got tough. I recall countless times there were issues affecting the Wellington campus on weekends, and often the first I would hear about them would be that not only were you onsite, but had been for some time. You might see that as something that´s expected of you as a sole engineer responsible for an entire campus, but please don´t think it went unnoticed by me.
I always appreciated your positive attitude, and solution-focussed view of the world. You never got dragged into the death spiral of complaining, and instead chose to take a step back and accept a level of ambiguity, chaos, and seemingly illogical decisions being made at times. You realised that it´s part of working in an organisation of any size, and took it in your stride.
Yours is always a reassuring voice of reason and calm, and that does wonders for the team´s attitude during challenging times. Don't underestimate the influence you have just by being present.

Dear Ada and Christina
On behalf of our entire team, please accept our deepest sympathies.
Gordon was a valued member of the university for more than 32 years, holding multiple roles in our information technology department.
Gordon was widely respected by his colleagues, not only for his extensive knowledge and experience, but also for his kindness and consideration.
Gordon will be deeply missed by those he worked with.
Yours sincerely

My condolences to you Ada and Christina on the passing of Gordon-a great work colleague to both my late husband Sam Hautapu and I at Wellington Polytechnic/Massey University
To me he was my go to when I had problems with Customer Payment runs-his patient and calm dealing with such problems always came with successful outcomes
To my husband he was a Morning Tea/Lunchtime companion with others-putting the world to rights with much fun and laughter-oh to be a fly on the wall at such times
It is a privilege to have known Gordon - May he rest in peace

I´m deeply saddened by the passing of my friend and colleague Gordon. I had the privilege of knowing him for twenty years. Over those two decades, we worked side by side on countless projects, travelled regularly to the Massey University Palmerston North campus, and shared many memorable conversations along the way.
He would travel up from Wellington while I came down from Auckland, and during those trips and team meetings in Palmerston North, his great sense of humour always made the long days lighter.
Gordon was a kind, considerate, and truly outstanding human being. His generosity of spirit, his willingness to help others, and his steady, calming presence left a lasting impact on everyone who had the good fortune to work with him. He brought warmth to the workplace and approached every challenge with humility and grace.
He will be missed dearly. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and to all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
