John ACKRILL Obituary

Crossed the bar peacefully at home on Friday, 31 October 2025, aged 83 years, after a long illness. Loved and loving husband of Joy, beloved father and father-in-law of Gareth & Elizabeth, Meredith & Edwin. Dearly loved Pa of Ben. Former co-owner and chief engineer of SS Hikitia. Ex HMS Conway, NZSCo, USSCo, Marine Division of MoT, Maritime NZ. Thanks to everyone who has provided support during John's illness - family, friends, colleagues and medical professionals, especially the district nursing team, Nurse Maude, Mary Potter Hospice and Wellington Free Ambulance.
A private cremation has been held. A gathering in memory of John will be held at Waitarere over the summer.
