Kathleen McKERNAN Obituary
Passed away peacefully at Aroha Care Centre on 14th of October 2025. Beloved member of the Sisters of Compassion for 57 years. Loved daughter of the late Hugh Joseph and Alice Margaret McKernan. Much loved sister of Hugh, Clement, Mervyn, Elizabeth, Margaret, Trevor and Bernard (all deceased). Much loved aunt to her nieces and nephews. A great friend of many. May she Rest in Peace. Thank you to the staff and Sisters (RSM) at Villa Joseph, and the staff at Aroha Care Centre, and the many people who have supported Sr Mary with such kindness and care. A Vigil will be held at Our Lady's Home of Compassion Chapel, 2 Rhine Street (off Murray Street) Island Bay, Wellington on Thursday 16th October commencing at 2.00pm. Requiem Mass will be celebrated in the same chapel on Friday 17th October commencing at 12 noon followed by burial at Karori Cemetery.

I had the pleasure of meeting sister Mary just a few weeks ago in Hospital.
She was such a strong and resilient lady, who stayed positive even when her last few weeks of life were hard.
She touched the hearts of many and now she is in pain no longer, in Heaven with her Lord.

A very dear friend, who blessed us with her wonderful and caring nature, has sadly passed from this world leaving us with many cherished, heartfelt and loving memories.
Sr Mary was a very special and caring lady who exemplified a dedicated passion to her chosen career of loving God and serving all people in need.
Rest in Peace as you remain always treasured and fondly in our hearts.
