To Owen, and all Margaret´s family,
Margaret was my lovely next door neighbour at Alandale. I, and others at Alandale so admired her courage and her will to keep active. We played indoor bowls together. In the early mornings I would often see her with her strong " walking stick" off for her morning walk, before I had even started my morning activities. Also, I would see her through my kitchen window into hers (we waved to each other) and she was doing her cookery baking to give to her many relatives, mostly grandchildren, I think, all of which she loved dearly. We often had neighbourly chats and she was such a lovely person to have next door.
When it was necessary for me to move to Linda Jones, Margaret, at about 20 years older than me, stayed on at Alandale, but eventually followed me on to Linda Jones. We were in completely different parts of the complex, and because I was finding it difficult to walk too far, I didn´t get up to see her as much as I would have liked.
I didn´t know about her passing until the Friday of her funeral service, so was not able to come to her service. I would have liked to have come to pay my respects to a wonderful, courageous neighbour and friend.102 years is a great achievement.Well done Margaret.Love Raema

A wonderful lady to our family as a mother & mum/n law, grandmother & grammie .An employer, a house keeper, a carer, a baby sitter , a child minder for holidays @ raglan, mt. maunganui, coramandel, sometimes keeper of the peace. always had the best intentions for everyone, sometimes herself. she took exceptional care of my children & made it very clear to me how important that access to them was never denied. a wonderful kind lady , a long life well lived. we will all miss her. her final words to me were, Eldred you never change. not quite sure what she meant? xxx
