Kirt Reed Obituary

KIRT EDWIN REED, 82, of Austin, Texas, died at Seton NW Hospital of a stroke on February 13, 2026.
Kirt was born the youngest of 13 children in the 10th ward neighborhood of Austin to Lillie Lykins Reed, mother, and Knox Eddie Reed, father. As a child Kirt moved many times in the Austin area, attending 5 elementary schools, 2 junior high schools and 2 high schools and in his youth served as a Page in the State House of Representatives. He had a fulfilling 40 year career with the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in telecommunications and computerization. In retirement he took up woodturning, a hobby in which he excelled making many beautiful pieces from the wood of central Texas and beyond.
Kirt is preceded in death by his parents and 11 siblings. He is survived by Susan Z. Reed, wife, Kim Leigh Stewart, daughter, Wesley Stewart and Braden Stewart, grandsons, and James Arthur Stewart, great grandson and Jimmy Reed, brother.
