Joe Wells Obituary
Joe K. Wells, Jr., age 86, passed away on May 28, 2025, in Austin, Texas.
Born and raised in Austin, Joe graduated from Austin High School and the University of Texas. He served in the Army Corps of Engineers and later founded and operated JKW Construction Company, where he worked until his retirement.
Joe was married to Mary Margaret Wells for nearly 62 years before her passing. Together, they built a life centered around family, friendship, and shared adventures. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Jennifer Childers (Cecil), sons Joe K Wells III (Becky) and John B Wells, as well as his grandchildren Caroline (Zach), Sarah (Jackson), Claire, Ben, Sam, Anna Kate, and Phoenix. His great-granddaughters Abby and Ella also carry forward his legacy.
A man who never met a stranger, Joe was known for his vibrant personality and love of a good party. He found joy in the outdoors, especially fishing and spending time at his ranch or in Colorado. A diehard fan of Longhorn football and basketball, Joe also gave back to his community by coaching Little League baseball and Pop Warner football. He had a deep appreciation for Mexican food, particularly when accompanied by a frozen margarita, and cherished time spent with friends and family.
The family will gather at a later date to spread the ashes of Joe and Mary Margaret together, honoring their enduring bond.
Joe's warmth, humor, and loyalty touched many lives. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
