Obituary of Susan Mace
Nina Marie Mace was born December 7, 1945 in Ames, Iowa to Lloyd G. and Altha (Carroll) Quigley. At a young age, she adopted the name, Susan.
Susan married Norman Spaulding in 1962 and had two sons, James and Chris. Norman died in 1977. Susan married Loren Mace on December 23, 1991.
Susan was a very kind, thoughtful and hardworking person dedicated to her family. She enjoyed road trips with her mother, collecting cookbooks, and spoiling her dog, Buddy. She was very dedicated to her faith and to our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Susan Mace passed away February 7, 2025 at the age of 79 years. She is survived by her husband, Loren; sons: James Lloyd (Carolyn) Spaulding and Christopher David Spaulding of Jefferson, IA; brothers: Larry Quigley of Omaha, NE and Phillip Quigley of Bagley, IA; sisters-in-law Donna Wolterman and Sherry Mace of Jefferson, IA; brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Vickey Mace of Olathe, KS; sister-in-law Irene Quigley of Colorado; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Norman; brother, Jerry Quigley; sisters-in-law, Rita and Janice Quigley; brother-in-law, Wayne Mace; stepfather, Woodrow (Barney) Cly; and grandson, Matthew Spaulding.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in Susan's name to Greene County Medical Center or to PAWS.
As per Susan's wishes, cremation has taken place. The family is having a Celebration of Life from 1:00 – 3:00pm on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at the Greene County Community and Recreation Center, 204 West Harrison Street, Jefferson, IA. Burial will be at a later date at Dawson Township Cemetery, Paton, Iowa.
