Even more valuable than the many things he taught me was simply the time spent with such a lovely man & his wife. I cant make it tomorrow, but to all the family I can truly say that your Dad & Mum, will not be forgotten.

With many fond memories of Brian and Jan, and his kindness to me and Ralph on our visits to NZ. A talented man who will be sadly missed. Love and sympathy to all the family from Chris in UK.

It was with a sense of great surprise and deep shock that I learned of the passing of Brian, the father of my dear daughter-in-law, Rachel. It is difficult to come to terms with losing a fine and exceptional man of such, dynamism, energy, and vitality: with a capacity, until the passing of his wife, Jan, and his recent illness, for enjoying life to the full.

Brian Barton was a man of extraordinary skills and ability, and his knowledge of horticultural theory and practice was remarkable.

He was an example to us all - a man of rare principle and integrity,

No truly kind man ever thought himself so; and Brian´s many acts of goodwill and kind-heartedness were so much part of his character that he apparently never seemed to be aware of the good that he did.

Brian was particularly family-oriented and loving - I have rarely known such dedication to family life.

This is a time of great sadness and irretrievable loss for the Barton family and for his many friends.
Those of us who had the good fortune to have known Brian, and his family, will be aware that the world has lost an extraordinarily kind, sensitive and intelligent human being

To the loving family and loyal friends of Brian: please accept my condolences.
