For 73 years, Barbara Jones filled the world with love, laughter, and a little bit of stubbornness to keep things interesting. On September 21, 2024, she re-dedicated her life to Christ. Born and raised in Quincy, Florida, she built a life rooted in family, hard work, and knowing exactly how to make everyone feel at home. She had a way of telling it like it was, but always with warmth—and if she loved you, you never had to wonder.
For 55 years, she and Arthur Jones shared a life full of stories, traditions, and more good meals than anyone could count. Together, they raised six Children— Dianne, Johnnie, Anita, Admetric, Kimberly and Jeremiah Jones—teaching them that family always comes first, that there’s no problem a good home cooking can’t make a little better, and that showing up for each other matters more than anything.
She found joy in sewing, cooking, antiquing, and loving up on her grand children. She made sure her home was always a place where people felt welcome. If you ever sat at her table or had a meal, you left with a full stomach, a good story, and maybe a few pieces of advice you didn’t ask for but probably needed.
Her biggest pride was her family, especially her Grandchildren: Arthur Jackson, Bridgette Robinson, Miya Paul, Armoni Paul, Zada Washington, Taiyra Baker, Nalonia Jones, Myesha Ash, and Shawn Webb Jr.; and eight (8) Great-Grandchildren: Zamari Webb, Caitlyn Robinson, Izell Gentle, Jr., who could do no wrong in her eyes (even when they absolutely did).
She is also survived by her beloved Siblings: Annie Bodison, Frank (Pearlie) Wilson, Leon Wilson, Willie C (Rudy) Wilson, Rose Wilson, Annie Ruth(Freddie) Ash, Donnell (Phylis) Wilson, Willie Ruth (Larry) Johnson , Dwayne (Carolyn) Wilson, Patricia Jones, Tyrone Wilson, Calvin Wilson and Mavinnetta C. (Joe) Williams, who shared a lifetime of laughter, love, and maybe a few disagreements along the way.
Her love will continue to shine through the lives she touched, the traditions she built, and the family she adored. Though she may no longer be with us in person, her spirit will forever be present in the laughter, love, and strength of those she leaves behind.
