Barbara Lumpkin Obituary

Barbara Ruth Lumpkin, age 73, of Texarkana, Texas, died Friday, July 24, 2020, in a local hospital.


Mrs. Lumpkin was born December 25, 1946, in Texarkana, Arkansas and was a Baptist. She made a difference in the lives of so many children, as she was an in-home caretaker for many years. Lovingly known as “NeNe”, the children all loved her dearly and will miss her.


Mrs. Lumpkin was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Lumpkin, Sr., her step-daughter, Phyllis Nash and one niece, Carrie Searcy.


Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Marie Stroman of Maud, Texas; one step-son Gary Lumpkin, Jr. and his wife, Delisa of Redwater; one sister and brother-in-law, Robin and Greg McNatt of Texarkana; one brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Carla Hodges of San Angelo, Texas; very special friend, Skipper Lumpkin; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.


Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens.


The family will have a service at 11 AM Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at Chapelwood Cemetery, North Chapel pavilion with Rev. Augustine Alaniz officiating.

So sorry for her loss. Precious memories and thankfulness as she joined Gary Lumpkin Sr. in prison ministry at FCI while he was able to do so.
