I’m one of Bennie’s nieces Amanda and he would say in his words one of his (favorites and prettiest) if he was still here because that’s what he would tell me every time he saw me. My Uncle Bennie had a heart of gold and was loved by so many people.
I still remember when he had his house built off 21 when we were just little kids and the family gathering at his place for the holidays they were short lived but very joyful times.
He was a hard working man, I remember watching him and my other Uncle Ronnie working together for their Great Uncle Arch doing asphalt for many years all around the Festus and DeSoto area.
My last memory of my Uncle Bennie is of him living with my Grandma prior to him moving in with his current Wife Dorothy. He was so happy that he had met someone and they were going to be together until the end and that’s exactly what happened for him.
He is the first of my 7 Aunts and Uncles to pass on my Mom’s side and I can’t even imagine having to do this 7 more times with the ones I have grown to love over these years. My heart breaks for his 3 Brothers, 4 Sisters, Wife, and More so his Children.
RIP Uncle Bennie and thank you for all the good memories over my 47 years of living. Love your Niece Amanda
