Camille Bolton Young, age 90, of Avon Park, FL, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2024. She was born February 4, 1934, in Dade County, FL to the late Alex B. Bolton and Mary Harvey. She was a Homemaker and Co-Owner with her late husband of Young’s Gulf, 60+ year member of First Baptist Church of Avon Park, current member of Athens Baptist Church, and has been a resident of Avon Park, FL since 1958, coming from Hialeah, FL. Camille was dedicated to her family, her friends and her community. She showed kindness, empathy, and had a willingness to listen and give to those in need. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a humble woman who enjoyed a good sense of humor and had a vibrancy for life. Camille and Lelon raised their four children to work hard and gave them the “gift of faith.” For decades, at First Baptist Church, she led children in Sunday School and helped adults learn to read. At her last residence, Fellowship at the Fairway, she made new friends, while her old friends continued to visit and love her; she was so blessed. Her faith was strong even until her death. She knew that she was going to Heaven, and she told people in the hospital she was ready. What a witness she was to the end!
Camille is survived by her Children – Linda Wood Rodriguez of Avon Park, FL; Tara Young of Nashville, TN; Daniel Wood (Debbie) of Bluffton, SC; Jim Wood (Debbie) of Avon Park, FL; Brothers – George Bolton (Mary) of Morriston, FL; Troy Burrell (Marianne) of Morriston, FL; Robert Bolton of Ocala, FL; Sister – Diane Robbins of Morriston, FL; 12 Grandchildren: Diana, Jason, Lindsey, Chrissy, Chris, Christen, HC, Annesly, Jimbo, Kendall, Sloane, Hudson; 25 Great Grandchildren; and 6 Great Great Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her Husband – Lelon “Lee” A. Young; Brothers – Howard Bolton and Alex Bolton. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 26, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Athens Baptist Church with family receiving friends beginning at 10:00 AM. She will be laid to rest at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Athens Baptist Church, 6510 West Bereah Road, Ft. Meade, FL 33841.

We are so very sorry we were unaware of Camille’s passing. Ben & I could have not asked for better neighbors for thirty years plus. Camille and I enjoyed each other so very much. We talked, giggled and laughed like two old hens across the fence. I remember her saying “I love you” after a brief phone conversion. I was so blessed she felt for me as I did her. She always had a smile and warm greetings. I will always remember she was the first person to welcome me to the neighborhood! She and Lee are reunited together in Heaven. We know they are celebrating. Our most sincere condolences to their family, and friends. Ben & Cheryl Tillman
