Carolyn was born September 4, 1953, in Amarillo, TX to Balbino and Della Chavez. She married Joe Alonzo on March 4, 1972.

Carolyn was passionate about raising her grandchildren. She dedicated her time to them and genuinely enjoyed getting to know them and their friends. You could always find her attending their choir concerts and cheering them on at their races. She was her daughter’s and grandchildren's biggest cheerleader! Carolyn loved crocheting and made each of them a special afghan. She cherished family vacations to Hawaii, Disney World, Red River, and Estes Park. Carolyn practiced Spanish and was learning French on Duolingo. She loved the US flag, adored Mickey Mouse, and loved making holiday gatherings special.

Carolyn was a hairstylist for more than 40 years and had a passion for helping her clients and friends by fixing their hair, listening to their stories, and giving them manicures. She was a good listener who offered advice when needed. Carolyn loved and befriended everyone, welcoming them all into her home.

Words cannot fully capture the legacy she leaves behind.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Balbino and Della Chavez; and brother Thomas Chavez, and his wife Ginger; and sister-in-law, Josie Chavez.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Alonzo; daughters, Janice Pylant and Juliet Chambers (Gary); brothers, Carlos Chavez (Debbie), Danny Chavez, Ralph Chavez (Janelda), Patrick Chavez (Angie), Michael Chavez, and Raymond Chavez (Diana); 3 grandchildren, Julian, Gavin, and Jonas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
