Christine Davis-Simmons was born on June 13, 1935, to John Davis Sr., and Vera Cox-Davis in Colp, IL. She accepted Christ at an early age under her late grandfather Reverend John Doc Davis at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Colp, IL. She moved to Springfield as a young adult and worked at various state agencies. After 25 years of service, she retired from the State Board of Education in September 2000.
Christine was proceeded in death by husband, James Napoleon Simmons Sr; parents, John and Edna Davis; brothers, Herbert Davis and John Davis Jr.; sisters, Pearl Day and Cora Davis-Rhoades; bonus daughter Dedara Moore, son, Lonnie Davis; grandson; Christopher Madison; granddaughter Tiffney Ware; nieces, Belinda Lanier, Doretta Crawford, Cheryl Davis; nephews, Bruce and Floyd Day, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories, daughters, Angela Davis (Irvin), Patricia Davis, Vera Davis, Karen Davis-Johnson (Eric), Tina Davis (Andrew Walker Sr.); sons, Terrence Davis (Regina) and Byron Davis; bonus children; daughters Joslyn McBride (Thomas); Sakira Jackson (Stephen); Jenetha Simmons, sons James Simmons Jr (Mary); Jeffery Simmons (Terenda) ; Thomas Simmons (Wanda).and host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Also a very special niece, Michelle Briggity and special cousins, Wanda Timms and Richard Bowen Jr.

Christine Marie Davis-Simmons, conveyed elegance, warmth, kindness and poise from the moment I met her in 1980 until our last conversation, 2025.
