Mr. Clarence Kelly III 17, affectionately known as C5, departed this life on March 10, 2025 at Wake Med, Raleigh, NC. Clarence was born on October 13, 2007, in Raleigh, NC to Clarence Kelly Jr. and Diesha Patterson.
He was educated in the North Carolina Public Schools System and recently attended South East Raleigh Magnet High School. He enjoyed playing various sports and his favorite pastime was dancing. He also was an avid football and basketball fan.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Olive Branch R.Z.U.A. Church. Clarence was a lovable guy. He was a very jovial and free-spirted person that loved to laugh, joke, and spend time with his family and friends.
Clarence was preceded in death by his sister Ke’asia Powell, grandmother Daisy Kelly, grandfather Clarence Kelly Sr., grandfather Danny McClure, great grandmother mother, Alice P. Smith, great grandmother Eva Bandy, Great Grandfather Paul Anderson; great uncles Anthony Patterson, Terrance Smith Sr., and Kevin Patterson Sr.
Clarence leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted mother Diesha Patterson (Palmer) father, Clarence Kelly Jr. (Stella) grandmother Cynthia Patterson, and grandfather Danny Anderson Sr.; Great Grandfather Percy L. Smith of Petersburg, VA; Great Grandmother Majorie Anderson; a devoted significant other, Chrissy Artis; his loving and devoted siblings Marek’e Patterson Sr., Jer'Miah Patterson, Kamari Patterson-Kelly (Amari), Jaylen Patterson, Paris Seward, Spirit Broady, Sky Broady, and Keniyah Price ; nephews and nieces, Marek’e Patterson Jr., Riley Hill, Lauren Patterson, Zalen Patterson, and Ka’Hari Patterson; uncles and aunts Troy Grey, Danny Anderson Jr., Datoya Ruffin, Nigel Coleman, Nigelle Kendrick, Albert Pearson Jr., Philemon Ross, Princeton Ross, Danny McClure Jr., and Robert Keene III; eight great uncles and aunts, Timothy Patterson, Fred Patterson, Sr. (Tiffany), Carrie Smith, Rhonda Harris (Ronnie), Sonia Smith (Edward Jones) Duane Smith, Kim Bandy, and Frances Pearson “Aunt Nuk;” Great-Great Uncle Fred Patterson Jr. (Olga) of Westampton NJ and Shelverden Smith of Petersburg, VA., Godmother Keasha Mitchell, God sister Tremaya Smith and Godbrother Terrance Smith Jr., Most devoted friends Quincy Ashe, Ziyeir Leach, and Karron Brown; Devoted extended family Tracey Bolling, Ms. Crystal Roache, Taneka Satterfield, and Ms. Shonnette Fletcher, Glenn Johnson and Tracie Walker: a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to name.
Services will be held Saturday March 22, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Brunswick High School, 2171 Lawrenceville Plank Road, Lawrenceville, Virginia.
Burial will follow at the Olive Branch R. Z. U. A. Cemetery, 1272 Sturgeon Rd. Lawrenceville, Virginia, 23868.
Public viewing will be held on Friday March 21, 2025 from 12 Noon to 7 pm at the McKenney Chapel of Johson Funeral Home, 11107 Doyle Blvd, McKenney. (804)-478-4411.
