Cody Howard Obituary

Funeral services for Cody Howard, 41, of Marshall, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at River Crossing Cowboy Church with Bro. Pete Sellers officiating. Interment will follow at Crossroads Methodist Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 7, 2024, at Downs Funeral Home. 

Cody was born on September 14, 1983, in Port Arthur, Texas and passed away on October 3, 2024, at LSU Health in Shreveport, Louisiana. 

Honoring Cody’s generous wish, the gift of life was shared with many people in need through organ donation.

He attended Elysian Fields and Marshall Public Schools. He was a consultant and worked in the oil field for twenty years. He was a hard worker and helped anyone that needed help. He loved to shoot skeet, cook and hang out with his family and friends, but most of all he loved spending time with his wife and two boys. 

He is survived by his wife of twenty two years, Jamie Howard; his two sons, Lane Howard and girlfriend, Hannah and Braden Howard and girlfriend, Karsyn and his loving companion, Maverick; dad and bonus mom, Ron and Michelle Howard; sister, Tasha Boudreaux and husband, Darrell; step-sisters, Brittany Griffin and husband, Chris and Heather Sharp and husband, Brenton; step-brother, Will Palmer; his Maw Maw Freda Howard and Maw Maw Hop, Maurine Hopkins; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Pam and Eddie Rockwell and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Larry and Sheila Stevens along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by Paw Paw Gene Howard; grandparents, Charles and Lucille Daily, Paw Paw Hop, Howard Hopkins and Bob and Betty Stevens along with aunts, uncles and a cousin and his two beloved pets, Jack and Rowdy.

Serving as pallbearers will be Wes Stevens, Tyler Moore, Garrett Winn, Tommy Benson, Brenton Sharp and Scotty Starr. Honorary pallbearers will be Heath Winn, Clint Hipp, Chance Ramsey, Matt Coyle, Justin “JBO” Moore, Bobby Moore, Travis Jackson, Mike Matelski, Ty Brannan, Carson Brannan, Caidyn Downey, Jerry Gaona and Hunter Madewell.

His family and friends would like to thank all of the LSU Health ICU doctors, nurses and staff, especially his night nurse, Adam and LOPA.
