David Clement Obituary

     A memorial service for David V. Clement, 80 of Heath will be 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 15, 2024 in Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Amy House officiating. A visitation will be observed from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. prior to the service.


    David passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the Laurels of Heath. He was born January 25, 1944 in Newark to Joseph F. and Mary A. (Walters) Clement.


    He retired in 1995 with 33 years of service at Owens Corning Fiberglas Technical Center as the corporate photographer. David also photographed events and worked as a computer tech in his spare time.  His hobbies included operating ham radios, model airplanes and drones. He enjoyed riding motorcycles. David was active in the Licking County Computer Club and remote-control club. He also served as an advisor and announcer for the Licking County 4H Band.


    Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Wanda (Yeager) Clement; sons, Mark (Jody) Clement of Newark, Jonathan (Teresa) Clement of Morrow; grandchildren, Spencer Clement, Lindsay Clement, Ian Clement, Isaac Clement, Amelia Clement; sister, Phyllis Shomaker of Heath; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Donna Jardine, Rod Yeager, Dr. Kenneth (Donna Lynn) Yeager, Richard Black; several nieces and nephews.


    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, James (Nadine) Clement, Patricia (Dwight) Garrabrant; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Rose Yeager, JoAnn Black, Johnnie Jardine, Robert Shomaker; nephew, Kevin Clement.


    The family request memorial contributions to the Licking County 4H Band, 4375 General Griffin Road, Alexandria, OH 43001.

I had the pleasure of working with Dave in 1984/1985 as I was completing a co-op at the Tech Center. He was always a ray of sunshine on a gloomy day! I loved his sense of humor and he always had a smile on his face. His patience in explaining things and procedures was top notch. I remember years later running into him in Goumas Candyland. Still had the same smile. He was a bright light. He will be missed. I am so sorry for your loss.

We were childhood friends when both of our families lived in Central City on Chalfant Road. We would ride bikes together and could often be found in Metz's store or Al's gas Station/Market. A good friend from many years ago. My the good Lord continue to bless your family with His arm of comfort.

David and I became acquainted when he was on the staff of our class yearbook ('61). Even at a young age he was a talented photographer and did professional work. Years later, I asked him to take my wedding photos. He was patient and caring and did a beautiful job. To this day, whenever I look at my album I think of him. I am saddened by his passing and send my thoughts and prayers to his wife and family.

Mr Clement gave up days and weeks so that SO many kids could have good, clean fun in the summer. Such fond memories. He will be greatly missed. Hugs to all his family.
