Dixie Lee Dennis, 86, passed away on November 5, 2024, in Mesick, Michigan. Born on August 3, 1938, graduating from Lincoln High School in Warren, MI. Throughout her life, she embodied the spirit of determination, always striving to provide for her loved ones and create a warm and loving environment. Dixie embodied a strong work ethic, working at various restaurant jobs, teaching restaurant management at East Detroit High School, managing the Mushroom Bar in her hometown of Mesick, then retiring from Lear Corporation after 15 years, all while owning and running a campground on her own. Dixie was a cherished member of her community, she was involved in numerous fundraisers for community members in need, as well as Wertz Warriors and the Special Olympics. Her hobbies included traveling, cooking and creating memories with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was an avid lover of Mickey Mouse.
Dixie is survived by: her children, Denise Dennis, David Dennis, and Danielle Dennis (Neil McClure); a bonus son, Tyler Letto; grandchildren, John Marciniok, Derek Marciniok (Stacy Wagner), Amanda Sanders (Clevelaen), Sonja Slade, Stefan Dennis, and Cheyenne Martin (Tyler Sr.); great grandchildren, Desmond Marciniok, Emery Marciniok, Kaiana Sanders, Lainee Marciniok, Millie Sanders, Maddie Slade, Tyler Martin Jr., and Rosalie Martin; in addition to numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.
Dixie was preceded in death by: her parents, Harold Moses Sr. and Marie Moses; siblings, Harold Moses Jr. and Barbara Winn; and her beloved daughter, Diane Dennis.
In lieu of services, those wishing to honor Dixie’s memory are encouraged to make contributions to the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance or the Special Olympics, causes she passionately supported. While she may no longer walk among us, her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire us all. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and there are no services planned at this time.
The Terwilliger Funeral Home, in Kaleva, is in charge of arrangements.
