Doris Tarkington Obituary

Doris Lee Tarkington, age 82, of Trinity, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, surrounded by love.

Born on November 13, 1942, to James and Mildred Paaske, Doris was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose quiet strength and deep faith shaped the lives of all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents; her sisters, Ruth Goza and Edith Holloway; her sons, Charlie Joe Kirk, Bruce Alan Kirk, and Jimmy Lee Kirk; and her husband, J.D. Tarkington, with whom she shared many years of love and partnership.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Julie Ellis; granddaughter, Heather Ellis; and great-grandchildren Tyler Callaway, Emilyn Gates, Eli Gates, and Austin Gates, each of whom brought her endless pride and joy.

Doris dedicated much of her life to caring for others as a longtime nurse's aide—a role that perfectly suited her compassionate heart and tireless spirit. She found strength and solace in her faith and cherished her church family at Burning Hope, where she built lasting friendships and found a true sense of community.

Doris will be remembered for her kindness, resilience, and unwavering love for her family. Her gentle presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
