Age 75, of Ross Township, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024. Loving husband of Margaret “Peggy” A. Baxter, they shared 56 years of marriage together. Devoted father of Bonnie Baxter; brother of the late Carl and Michael Baxter and Kathy Braden; also survived by nieces and nephews.
Ernie had an almost magical charisma about him. He was dubbed “The Entertainer” - not just because he impersonated Elvis professionally for a handful of years - but he truly enjoyed making people happy and giving them a laugh along the way, even during his last days with us.
Ernie drew people into his world of creativity and artistic flair. Family was most important to Ernie, however. The love he gave to his Wife and Daughter was unconditional and everlasting. It was the foundation on which his small immediate family was built. His exuberance for life and those closest to him will be greatly missed, but always be cherished as his greatest gift to us.
Family and friends are welcomed at the WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 216 44th Street, Lawrenceville, on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.

Ernie had one of the quickest wits I've known. Nothing got past him and sparing back and forth was immensely fun. We miss you already.

How could anyone not love this man. He was the light of many of my days. I loved being with Ernie and Peggy and visiting with them at their trailer in Slipperyrock. I’m so sorry Peggy and Bonnie for your loss. He was quite a wonderful kind man and will be surely missed. Rest in peace Ernie, my heart is broke. I’m sure you are singing with Elvis.

Ernie was such a good friend to my mom and Dad (Jim & Joanne Comer) I enjoyed visiting with him at Slippery rock camp ground, sitting on the covered porch and listening to his Elvis stories.
Prayers for comfort to Peggy, Bonnie and family.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Aunt Peggy , Bonnie and the family. Uncle Ernie was one of the few truly good guys. May he rest in peace as the music of Elvis follows him in his next journey. What a loss to us who remain -but what a big gain for those in the hereafter. Carry on good man - thanks for being a part of us.
