Eula Davies Obituary

Eula Mae Davies, age 96, of McDonough, Georgia passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on February 9, 1928, in McRae, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Martin Lacy and Ruth Osborne McCabe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Hiram Davies and an infant daughter, Betty Ruth Davies.

Eula Mae met the love of her life, Hiram, on a troop train during World War II, and the two were married for 36 wonderful years before his passing in 1982.

A gifted cook, Eula Mae had an unmatched talent in the kitchen, and there was no dish beyond her mastery. Her specialties—savory dressing, homemade rolls, melt-in-your-mouth pound cake, fried corn, and perfectly seasoned squash—became legendary at family gatherings. She was happiest when cooking a feast for her loved ones, bringing everyone together with her warmth and love.

For 34 years, Eula Mae worked in the Henry County School System as a beloved "Lunchroom Lady," feeding her children and her grandchildren at Stockbridge High School. Her kindness and care left a lasting impact on generations of students who were fortunate enough to be fed by her hands.

Eula Mae was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished MawMaw. Her love for her family was boundless, and she never missed an opportunity to express her gratitude for her blessings. She was an unwavering woman of faith who was thankful to God for every moment and found joy in life's simple pleasures. Her positive outlook and generous spirit made her a beacon of light in the lives of those who knew her.

Though her presence will be deeply missed, there is rejoicing in Heaven as she is reunited with Hiram and welcomed into the arms of her Lord.

She leaves behind her children, Hiram (Carol), Richard (Juanita), Diane (Mike), and Elaine; grandchildren, Kyle (Katie), Jake (Emily), Amy (Adam), Garrett, and Tiffany; great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Connor, Oakley, Elianna, Hudson, Lyla, James, and Laine; as well as several extended family members and friends.

Her family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care provided by her dedicated caregivers: Keysha, Detral, Margaret, Linda Boyd, and Southern Grace Hospice.

The family will receive friends to honor MawMaw’s life on Friday, October 4, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon. A graveside service will follow the visitation at Lamar Memory Gardens in Barnesville, Georgia. Those who wish may sign the online guest registry at www.cannonclevelandfunerals.com. My parents, Billy & Glenys Clemons, were nearby neighbors, who preceded her in death. I would like to think they are two of many who are welcoming Ms. Eula home!
