Interment will follow at Noonday Cemetery. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Church. Mr. Wilson passed away on October 16, 2024, in Tyler, Texas.

George Donald "Don" Wilson was born at his aunt’s house in Ashland, near James, Texas on June 18, 1932, to parents Effie and George Wilson. The Lord called him home on October 16, 2024, while surrounded by his loving family at Hospice Home Place in Tyler, Texas. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1950. His first job was working for the T&P Railroad in Marshall right out of high school. He was then drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War and served from Feb 6, 1953 - February 28, 1955, at Fort Bliss, Texas as a Private First Class in the 246th Field Artillery Unit. After his Army Service, he went to work at Thiokol in Karnack in 1955. In 1965 Don went to work at Texas Eastman where he worked for 28 years until his first retirement in 1993. He then faithfully served 15 years as the Maintenance Supervisor at First Baptist Church Hallsville until his official retirement at 87 years young in 2020.

Don met his first love, Dolores Whitehead, in Marshall, while in the service; and they were married in Hugo, Oklahoma on June 7, 1955. Their love built a family in 1968 when they chose daughter, Shelley Carol, and son Kelly Don as their own. Don and Dolores were faithfully married 34 years, until her death in November 1989. In 1991, Don married Peggy Jean Francis of Hallsville, and they were happily married for 31 years until her death in 2022.

Don gave his life to the Lord at a revival service at Grange Hall Baptist Church shortly after he married Dolores in 1955, and he was a devoted servant of Jesus Christ for the rest of his life. He was ordained as a Deacon on August 3,1958 at Grange Hall Baptist Church in Marshall. He joined First Baptist Church Hallsville in 1962 and served faithfully there as a Deacon since 1963. He was a man of integrity, honor, and service. He loved to work and could always be found mowing or tinkering on something in his shop or helping others in some way. Don always said, "A man can solve a lot of problems while mowing on a tractor!" He raised his children in the love and admonition of the Lord, and he was a wise man in his ways. He had a quick wit and an amusing sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He especially enjoyed spending time with Kelly working at his deer lease; and he took great pride in his grandchildren cheering them on at track and cross country meets, basketball games, school functions, and getting together for family dinners.

Don is preceded in death by his parents Effie and George Wilson; wife Dolores Whitehead Wilson; wife Peggy Francis Wilson; and Step-Son Gary Francis
