1935
2024
Honna was born in Los Angeles, California on September 22, 1935 to her parents Helen and George W Smith ll. She was the loving wife of her husband Leo Chambers and mother of her three girls Vicki, Paula and Elaine. She was later graced with 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
In the earlier years of her life, her family lived on a ranch full of orange groves and farmland in Rialto, Ca. After a devastating fire they moved their lives and ever-growing egg business to Carson, Ca. where her family finally settled. She attended grade school at St Peter and Paul in Wilmington, Ca. and graduated from St Anthony High School in Long Beach, Ca. She was an amazing dancer back in the day for fun, she danced the local circuit with her favorite dance partner for years getting rave reviews at all the hot spots. Later she found a love for drag racing with her 1940 Ford Coupe that she won at the horse races, thanks to Sweet Chariot!
Honna met Leo (the love of her life) in the mid-1950โs they were married for over 50yrs. In the early 60โs she worked at the John Tracy Clinic PreSchool for the Deaf in Los Angeles, Ca. during the time my sister Vicki attended Pre-School there, she continued to work there for years after. She later found a love for antiquing and especially loved having her little shop. Over the years in her spare time she became quite the seamstress making a lot of our clothes when we were young, all matching. She was also very well known for quilting, her patchwork quilts that she made so lovingly back in the 70โs for each one of us were a hit with everyone including extended family members and celebrities that stumbled upon her work at The Rose Bowl! She later took her craft of quilting to a whole new level of blanket making selling at craft shows with my Dad in tow, after his retirement. She actually put us all to work!
In her ladder years while having to stay close to home she found a love for gardening that brought her so much pleasure. All the while.. throughout the years she gave to her family and friends so graciously and lovingly.
She was a true example of an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, someone certainly to be respected and admired. A true inspiration of someone who was dedicated to her family, friends and her faith and who always showed nothing but love and respect to everyone around her. She was a true loving spirit to all who knew and loved her, she will be greatly missed..๐๐๏ธ

Honna was a second mom to me in high school. I loved her warm home and creative spirit so much as well as the entire family. Honna inspired me to become the woman I am in so many ways. God bless you and the family. The Lord has prepared a mansion just for you Honna
