Ida Mae Eperthener, 96, of Mercer, passed away at home on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. Born in Findley Township on November 3, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Paul Matthew and Adda Mae (Sidley) Snyder.
Ida Mae married John Richard “Dick” Eperthener on July 10, 1954 and he preceded her in death on May 2, 2020. They celebrated almost 67 years of marriage when Dick passed away.
Ida Mae worked as a cashier at Mercer A & P then she was a teller at Northwest Bank in Mercer and retired in 1958 to raise her family.
She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Mercer for 71 years, where she was the director of funeral luncheons, in charge of Lenten luncheons and a member of various committees. Ida Mae was active in Mercer County 4-H, PTA while her children were growing up, active in her homemaker’s group in the neighborhood and was always ready with a smile and a meal to whomever stopped by or needed one. Ida Mae’s greatest joy was loving and caring for her family.
Surviving are three children: Abbie Lynne (Daniel) Clark in Honey Grove, PA; Marcia Ann (Jeffrey) Colson in Transfer, PA and Edward Richard (Diana) Eperthener in Mercer, PA; one sister, Arlene Humason in Florida; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren with the 8th arriving in February 2026.
Her parents, husband, and infant son, William Jeffrey Eperthener, two sisters and one brother preceded Ida Mae in death.
Visitation will be at Cunningham Funeral Home, Inc., 144 S. Pitt Street, Mercer, PA 16137 on Monday, October 20, 2025 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Funeral service will follow immediately after visitation at the funeral home at 1:00 PM with Rev. Dr. Catherine Craley of Trinity Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow at Findley Cemetery, Mercer, PA.
