James Hurst Obituary

James Howard Hurst, age 81, husband of Margaret A. Haley Hurst, passed away Monday, October 28, 2024 in Lawrenceburg. James was born March 15, 1943, in Titusville, FL, to the late James Henderson Hurst, and Rosa Lee Revels Hurst.


James was of the Christian faith and loved classic cars and watching NASCAR. After high school James joined the United States Navy and served from 1960 to 1980. During this time, James reached the rank of Chief Petty Officer. James was a member of the Moose Club, the American Legion, and the Disabled American Veterans, a non-profit organization for veterans.  


Along with being a devoted, caring husband to his wife, James is survived by his children; James Fleet Hurst (wife Lisa), Justin Arvin Hurst, Desiree Lynn Welch, Dana Wilson (husband Chip), Michele Ard (husband John), William Kennedy (wife Shannon); twelve grandchildren; James Fleet Hurst, Jack Freeman Hurst, Taylor Wilson, CJ Wilson, Shane Ard, Kelsey Ard, Nic Kennedy, Haley Kennedy, Ella Kennedy, Avery Kennedy, Kayden Hurst, and Kylee Grantham. 


James was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn D. Berry and her husband John Berry. 


To keep with James wishes, his family chose cremation.

James, we are happy to have shared our most recent family outing in GSMNP, TN. It was great to all be togehter. Peg, we love you and are sorry for your grief. To James' children and grandchildren, our condolences on the passing of your dad and granddad. Our prayers are with the entire family. Kelly and Paul O.
