James Roy (JR) Sanders, 77, of Trinity TX, went to be with the Lord on April 1, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, he leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and a love for the outdoors.
Born on June 27, 1947, James grew up spending time in the outdoors. His love for nature continued throughout his life and was evident in everything he did, from his passion for hunting and fishing to his tireless dedication to his garden. James’ love for the outdoors was matched only by his devotion to his family. He cherished the time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, and extended family. A man of great integrity, James was the type of person who could always be counted on. His generosity was felt by the many people in his life, all of them knowing he would lend a helping hand without hesitation. His selfless service to others has left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Sanders and Dorothy Willette, and by his daughter, Vicky Callaway. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Eva Sanders; daughter, Jill Ware and husband Dan of Florida; son, Jason Sanders and wife Sonsee of Florida; siblings, Floyd Sanders and wife Bobbie of Trinity TX, Joe Sanders of Trinity TX, Beth Savoie and husband Paul of Nogalus Prarie TX, Glenn Sanders and wife Sherry of Cleburne TX; son-in-law Oscar Hall; 13 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
James’ love for the outdoors and his family will always be remembered. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

JR was the hardest working man I knew. He loved his family and always talked about them and kept us up to date on what they were up to. We will miss him at Lufkin Gears.
