James Earl Morris, 62 of Chipley, went home to be with the Lord on October 31, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
James was born on July 2, 1962 in Graceville, Florida to Roland Dalton Morris and Willie Mae Finch Morris. A lifelong resident of the Florida Panhandle, James owned and operated JS&L Timber Company for over 23 years. His love for the outdoors extended beyond his work logging, as he was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as dirt track racing. James was of the Christian Faith and he attended Oakie Ridge Baptist Church. He will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Roland and Willie Mae Morris; two brothers: Roy Morris and Randy Morris; granddaughter: Hadley Morris.
James is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Susie Morris of Chipley, Florida; son: Lucas Morris and wife Jessica of Chipley, Florida; daughter: Crystal Duke and husband Lee of Caryville, Florida; brothers: Ray Morris and wife Penny of Chipley, Florida, Dalton Morris of Chipley, Florida; sisters: Ruth Melvin of Marianna, Florida, Patricia McCallister of Graceville, Florida; six grandchildren: Allyson Duke, Bryson Duke, Tyson Duke, Weston Morris, Easton Morris, Benson Morris; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones.
Funeral service will be held 11AM Monday, November 4, 2024 at Oakie Ridge Baptist Church in Chipley, Florida with Bro. Alan Corbin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 3-5PM Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Obert Funeral Home, 731 Kirkland Road, Chipley, Florida.

James was my grandpa, he was also grandfather of my 3 cousins Easton Morris, Weston morris and Benny morris. We are gonna miss him dearly. Every time me and my cousins came over to his house we always went fishing. There was multiple times we got to go hunting with him. We wish we could have him back but we have the memories and fun times. We will miss him so much. He is in a better place now so we have nothing to worry. We love and miss you papa.
