Janice was a truly free spirit. She loved and indulged all of her energy into her family Mom, Dad, Siblings and children. She always found a way to lift others up, and make them feel special and loved, even if she was hurting within her own life (she never complained). I adore her, she always had a positive word and prayer to share and a smile that could light up the sky. She was smart and always seeking to learn new things. There will never be another like her. Hopefully, her children and grandchildren will carry on her legacy. I so very, very miss you my sweet sister. As Mom and Dad were the best In-laws that a person could have, you were the best sister and prayer partner that anyone could ever have!! Rest in peace my sister, you've earned that right! I love you! Blessing & love to the family! I'll be praying with and for you!!!

From my perspective, Janice was always someone that was bubbly and caring. As my sister in the ministry, we shared many opportunities to minister to people who were in nursing homes in various Detroit locations. Janice was always eager to help others and engage in positive conversation from time-to-time as she offered words of encouragement whenever the need arose. I will miss, my sister, Janice. However, I am thankful to God for having allowed me the opportunity to get to know this kind, quite spirited individual....Janice may be gone, but, for me, she will never be forgotten! Much Love, Barbara Hale

Janice, I am so grateful to have gotten to know you. You were always so kind and fun to be with at the family reunions. I got to know your family because of your amazing memory, stories, and commitment to maintaining the legacy of the Potter-Crawfords. I will miss you, and so will your niece Rebekah. Thank you for all of the love you offered her. You were always doing the work of the Lord Jesus, and you were so kind.

Ms Hawkins was a supportive addition to the staff at Kennedy Learning center. She did not hesitate to roll up her sleeves and work with our most vulnerable students.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always.

Learning how to save life together. She was always ready to learn how to do better to help others, while she helped herself. I will miss her dearly.

Such an affectionate laugh. Janice was such a great woman of God and a real friend. She always k ew what to say and make you feel so much better about whatever you were experiencing. She was a great motivator and loved her family and did what she could to help everyone she came in contact with. I was blessed to have her as a friend.

Janice was a beautiful , genuinely loving and caring person. As a sister-n-law, she always treated me as a sister, with the same love that her parents did. She loved with her whole heart everyday of her life and adored her children. She was always striving to learn something new & to make a difference in this world and in her family. She was always cheerful regardless of her circumstances & was a constant presence in uplifting everyone else's spirit, while at times neglecting her own needs. Janice, my Sister for life, may God hold you in his arms & cherish you forever . We may have taken you for granted, but God never will! Rest in peace my sister. I will surely miss you, yet you will always be in my heart ❤ Pat Hawkins

Aunt Janice always gave me unconditional love, ear piercing when I was a little girl, got everything that I needed when I was having my first born, she never second guessed me when I was wrong, I'm going to miss you soooo much but I know you are in a better place, until we see each other again, say hello to all our love ones ❤ your first born niece, Gwen

I wish I could share the photo of Janice at four and me at two years old. We were on our little tricycles looking back, grinning, at the camera. That photo got lost long ago. She was the sibling I never had. We went to elementary, junior high and high school together. I have so many memories, all good! She was truly a Phenomenal Woman, and always ready with a helping hand and with a smile. Alvin and Ernest, 'Reish, Mali & Keto, you have my love and prayers.

Janice was a delight to work with as she selflessly volunteered for so many years at Care Net Pregnancy Center. I loved her style, humor and heart to serve the Lord and others. My condolences to all of her family.

Janice was truly dedicated to her family. I truly did not know she was leaving so soon. She was always so full of life. This is a strong signal for me to call my dear friends more often. I just cannot believe this message!

Janice Hawkins was a TRUE MOTHER, she was Matriarch of her family, she was a MOST KIND, LOVING BEING, she would do anything for you. She was committed to Areisha, Keto, Molly and Gregory and her other grandchildren. I had known Janice for over 40 years, we weren't as close in her later years but she will TRULY be MISSED. She was an inspiration and always had a ear for anyone. She didn't give any signs she was leaving this REALM, my heart aches for her lost. She will surely be missed.
