John Atwill Obituary

Mr. John R. Atwill, age 85 and former resident of this area passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at the Clinton Place in Clinton, KY.

John was born in Fulton Co., KY on March 5, 1940, to the late Joseph L. Atwill, Sr. and Edna May Davis Atwill. He had been residing in Marshall Co., KY for the past several years and was a retired Switchman for the Illinois Central Railroad. He was a member of the Twin Lakes Worship Center in Benton, KY, enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling and was a member of Gideons International.

He is survived by his three daughters, Cheryl Lee (Billy) Hamlin, Fulton, KY, DeeDee (Jimbo) Adams, Fulton, KY and Johnna (Chris) Courtney, Senoia, GA, three grandchildren, Shane (Melissa) McClure, Benton, KY, Kody Atwill, Union City, TN and Ryan (Gabby) Atwill, Fulton, KY and 7 Great Grandchildren.

John is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Kelly Atwill, a brother, Lewis Atwill and a sister, Mary Alice Owens.

Funeral services are incomplete at this time and will be announced later.

Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton is in charge of arrangements.
