John Hon, Jr Obituary

John W. Hon, Jr, 76 of Osage City Kansas and formerly Emporia passed away on Wednesday October 2, 2024, at home.

John was born on October 22, 1947, in Malden Missouri, the son of John William Hon Sr and Dorothy Stanfil Hon Overfield. He married Patricia Brantley on April 25, 1980, in Sikeston Missouri. She passed away on November 14, 2008, in Emporia at their home.

Survivors include their son, Robert Hon and daughter in law Kasondra, his grandchildren Alex, Jordan, Rylea and six great grandchildren Axel, Ace, Ryder, Marlee, Atlas and Blakely. A son Shawn and grandson Shawn Jr. A daughter Melissa and her children and grandchildren. Sister Deborah, husband Randy, nephew Ben, niece Tori and their children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother Ron.

John served in the US Army then went on to work in a few different places but lastly owned Family Daycare in Emporia for 22 years before retiring after the passing of his wife.   He was a member of the American Legion, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, NRA-ILA, National Rifle Association, 2nd Amendment Task Force and the National Concealed Carry Association. 

Cremation is planned. The family will receive friends at the Roberts- Blue-Barnett Funeral Home on Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 1:00p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  A memorial has been established with Emporia All Veteran’s Memorial.
