John A. Pace, age 62, of Wilton, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Cremation rites have been accorded. No funeral services are scheduled at this time.
John was born in Cabool, Missouri, on February 2, 1962, the son of Marvin and Maria (Schneid) Pace. John married Jennifer Ann Lee, with whom he shared many years and two children while residing primarily in the Muscatine area. Later, he found companionship with Ruth Ann Bloomfield, whom he married on October 28, 2002, and spent many years together in Davenport.
John spent much of his youth in Sunbury and Durant, where he developed a love for the outdoors and mechanics. He was known for his love of fishing, the thrill of motocross racing with his brother Newt, and his passion for working on cars, bikes, and anything mechanical. He was a man of the outdoors, often found riding his bicycle or enjoying music. Though he didn’t follow a conventional career path, John dedicated himself to various hands-on work, focusing primarily on automobile repair. He was a free spirit with a loving heart, living life on his own terms and embracing every moment.
John is lovingly remembered by his siblings, Newt (Sue) Pace of Wilton and Viola Pace Knudsen of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Among them, his niece, Erika, who shared a uniquely close bond with him, becoming more like a daughter, especially in his final years.
John was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Marvin and Maria Pace; two children, Amy Lynn Wentz and Dusty John Pace; two grandchildren, Andreah Schroeder and Lily Wentz; his sister, Valinda Pingel; and his brother, Carl Pace.
