Kathy Baker Obituary

On Saturday, September 28th 2024 our precious cousin & and special friend left this earthly life and entered into eternity and the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Kathy was born to Henry John and Frances Kathleen Smith Baker on December 28th, 1941 in Flint, Michigan. She was their beloved only child, loved by her parents and their families. She was a sweet, kind soul who lived well with the limitations life gave her. We know she has been reunited with her family who had been waiting for her for many years.

Kathy enjoyed nature, watching the birds, helping to plant the garden & gather up the flowers & produce. She loved to color pictures, with crayons, pencils, markers & paint. She also loved to put together Jigsaw puzzles and spent many hours doing so with the Caregivers she lived with for many years.

Kathy is survived by her cousins Janet Herwaldt (Stan McKeller), Marcia Barrett (Cg III) Standish, Tim (Sue) Herwaldt, Tom (Denise) Herwaldt, Betty Baker (Frank) Maker; William (Marcia) Herwaldt, and Deborah Barrett-Summers.

Kathy is also survived by Jessie Baker & Roberta Chappel of Millington, Michigan who were Kathy's long term Caregivers after her father passed away. They were assisted by Anna Walker, Kadance Baker, Tina Severt, Sandy Bare, Deb Beckman, Niah Grace Beckman & Lydia Beardsley.  Kathy's family is forever grateful to Jessie and her helpers for the wonderful care given to our dear cousin.

Our family also gives our sincere and heartfelt thanks to the staff of Compassus Hospice for their support and tender loving care for Kathy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hank & Kate;

Grandparents John F & Anna (Busch) Baker; Karl D & Mary Louise (Marks) Smith;

Aunts & Uncles: John & Hilda Baker Schulz; Edwin & Elizabeth (Keil) Baker; Donald & Mary (Baker) Barrett; William & Martha (Baker) Herwaldt.

Cousins Eddie Schulz; Shirley, Dorothy, Irene, Mary, & Beverly Baker; Donald G Barrett; and Jonathan Herwaldt.

Funeral service will be held 2pm Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Peace Presbyterian Church, 1521 Elms Rd, Flint, MI 48532, Pastor Dan Rose officiating.

Visitation 1pm Thursday until the time of the service at the church.

Burial will be at a later date beside her parents at Wildwood Cemetery in Owosso, Michigan.
