Kaylene T. Dunn Obituary

In Loving Memory of our precious Mother, Daughter, Grandmother, Aunt and Friend.  Kaylene T. Dunn, C’ante etanhan wic’aku win (gives from the heart), was born on November 25, 1983 in Devils Lake, ND.  She passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2024 due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.   Her parents are Carmen Littlewind and (late) Tayron “Terry” Dunn.  


Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Monday, October 7, 2024 at the Crow Hill Rec Center with Fr. Steven Meyer celebrating.  Visitation will be on Sunday, October 6, 2024 beginning at 5:00 PM at Crow Hill Rec Center with Rosary and Prayer Service at 7:00 PM.  Burial will be held at St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery in Crow Hill, ND.  The procession to Crow Hill Rec Center will leave on Sunday at 4:45 PM from Hwy 281/ Hwy 57 Junction to the Crow Hill Rec Center.  All Drummers and Singers are welcome to share their songs. 


Kaylene grew up on the Spirit Lake Nation and attended Oberon Public School and Four Winds High School.  She later moved to Bismarck, ND with her children, where they called home for 16 years.  She was an outgoing person, very polite, willing to help where needed.  Kaylene received her Certified Nursing Assistant certificate from Bismarck State College.  Kaylene was a CNA at several elderly homes and waitressed at different locations in Bismarck.  She was baptized in the Catholic Church and her god parents were her Grandmother (late) Catherine and Uncle Richard Littewind.


Our beloved Mother Kaylene’s children: Shobie Shaw (Cheyenne), Keshawn Shaw, Howard Shaw, Tawny Shaw, Arionna Shaw, Breann Dogskin and Sherlynn Dogskin; grandson, Krue Shaw; mother, Carmen Littlewind and adopted father, E. Sonny White; sisters, Adriane (Shaquille) Littlewind-Shaw, Layla Kalenze and Tayla Redfox; adopted sister, Camey L. DuBois; brothers, Lionel (Jacy) Dunn, Austin (Allene) Littlewind, Bruce (Sharissa) Littlewind, Dustin (Melanie), Michael, Cody, Kyle, Terry, David (Britney), Trevor Dunn; adopted brothers, Kellen and Sylvester Littlewind and Jesse White; 23 nieces and nephews; aunts, Hopsty (Louie) DuBois, Onna Littlewind, Germaine (Darren) Demarce, Alfreda (Bob) Charboneau, Alberta (Ted) Snell, Colleen Cook, Renita (Whalen) Shaw, Bernadine Littlewind, Catalina Herman and Cora Whiteman; uncles, Dean (Lolita) Dunn, Maynard Dunn, Richard Littlewind, Joseph Gourd, Frank Gourd, Raybert and Dallas Littlewind; many relatives from the Littlewind and Dunn Families.


She was preceded in death by her father, Tayron Dunn; brothers, Aaron Littlewind-Dunn and Mitchell Littewind; aunts, Delphine Cavanaugh and Lavina Littlewind; uncle, AJ Littlewind, Jr; grandparents, Ambrose-Theresa Littlewind, Angeline Alberts and Frances Rattling Tail; cousins, Lindsey, Leann, Johanna, John, Theresa, Jarvis, Avis, Teresa Glenda Demarce, Anthony Littlewind and many more family members.


Active Casket Bearers: Lionel Dunn, Austin Littlewind (Shaquille Littleghost), Bruce Littlewind, Alfred Thompson Jr., Kyle Dunn, Terry Dunn, Joseph Dunn and Kyle Dubois.
