LaMon J. Bollingberg Obituary

LaMon J. Bollingberg, 89, of rural Cathay, ND passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND.  A Private Family Service will be held at a later date. In honor of her wishes, no funeral will be held.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Wells County Historical Society: P.O. Box 261 Fessenden, ND 58348.


LaMon J. Bollingberg was born April 30, 1935 in Martell, WI to Manley and Myrtle (Zentis) Griffey.  After the death of her mother in 1944, she along with her siblings, moved to Binford, ND and lived with their Aunt LaVerne and Uncle Paul Rorvig.  She graduated from Binford High School in 1953 and attended Valley City Teachers College and taught in rural schools.  


On October 5, 1958 LaMon was united in marriage to Thor Bollingberg in Binford and they farmed in the Bremen area.  Thor passed away August 2006.


LaMon is survived by her two sons, Brian (Celine) of Bremen, ND and Steve (Becky) of Staples, MN; four grandchildren, Tabatha (Brent), Amy (Cody), Thomas (Brittney), and Brandon; seven great-grandchildren, Tanner, Lily, Bentley, Cameron, Halie, Piper, and Paisley; and sister-in-law, Carol Griffey of Fargo, ND.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Thor; parents, Manley and Myrtle Griffey; brothers, Gerald and Gaylon Giffey; sister, Janice Lorentzson; special aunt and uncle; nephew, Craig Lorentzson; and niece, JoRae Griffey.

Grandma was a wonderful person and will be missed greatly by me and my family. We spent a lot of time together and I will treasure all those wonderful memories. Love you grandma. Until we meet again.
