Laura Young Obituary
Laura Jean Young, 65, of Monongahela, died Saturday, August 24, 2024 in her home. She was born January 14, 1959 in Washington, a daughter to the late Richard F. Price and Carol Gumpman Price who survives and resides in Monongahela.
Laura was a 1977 graduate of Seneca Valley High School and continued her education at the Jameson Memorial School of Nursing in New Castle. She worked as a travel nurse prior to getting married. She was also employed for many years in the ICU and ER at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, UPMC Montefiore, and Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital.
She was an extremely active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Monessen. Laura was involved with council, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and the Cherub Choir at the church.
Laura loved being a mom and was very active in her children's activities growing up. More recently, she especially enjoyed being a Mammie to Lillian and Madeline. She was crafty and enjoyed gardening and canning tomatoes. One of her favorite things was going to see musicals with her mom. Laura's life wasn't complete without her two golden retrievers, Jack and Jill.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Ray Young, with whom she celebrated 39 years with on April 27, 2024; three daughters, Samantha (Jason) Hurst of Cranberry Township, Dr. Katelyn (Dr. Jason Dinko) Young of Bloomsburg, Brianna (Justin) Sciulli of Ambridge; son, Aaron Young of Castle Shannon; two grandchildren, Lillian and Madeline Hurst; sister, Linda Reichel of Pittsburgh; brother, Thomas Price of Carroll Township.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Michelle Price.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 from 6-8 PM and on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Frye Funeral Home, Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 12:00 PM in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1317 Grand Blvd, Monessen with Rev. Rebecca Dittenhafer and Rev. Christina Hough officiating. Guests are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1317 Grand Blvd, Monessen, PA 15062.

What a wonderful lady! Our family met Laura at Dr Mathur’s office, she was a delight, kind, and had a wonderful “aura” about her. She always brightened my dad’s day when she sent him cards in assisted living. She spoke so highly of her family! My deepest sympathy.

So sorry to hear about Laura. What a sweet person! I loved working with her, love all the band activities and trips we went on together when Brooke and you kids were in high school, and just loved being around her no matter what we were doing. She was a fighter. We will not be able to visit at the funeral home because we are at Brooke's for the week but we send our condolences and will be praying for you all in this time. She is now with Jesus.

Sam, I am so very sorry! I got to chat with your sweet Mom a couple of times when you lived in Georgia. You can tell that your relationship was something very special.
