Lillian Conley Obituary

Lillian Louise (Perron) Conley, 80, passed away on December 1, 2024 at her home in Glover, VT.  She was born on November 2, 1944 in Albany, VT.  Whether you call her Lillian, Mom, Gram, Lilly, or Aunt Lilly – you knew her as a selfless person who took care of others.  We were all blessed to call her ours.

Lillian loved to dance, cook, travel, garden, and quilt.  Family was everything to her.  Her grandchildren were blessed with many hours spent with her, she loved them dearly.  She treasured her brothers, sisters, and church family.  Caring for her husband, daughters, grandchildren, and extended family made her happy.

Lillian was a stay-at-home  mother until her daughters entered school.  She then began her career as a hot lunch cook for 28 years at the Barton Graded School.  She took pride in serving homemade meals and making sure every child had a full belly.  She enjoyed her co-workers and often shared stories of good times in the kitchen.  Lillian was also a 4-H leader and mentored many children through 4-H for over 25 years.

She is survived by her husband Royce Conley, daughter Hope Colburn and her husband Mark, daughter Charity Turner and her husband Amos, grandson Devin Colburn and his partner Danielle Gratton, granddaughter Lauren Baker and her husband Nick, granddaughter Grace Boudreau and her husband Troy, and grandsons Ethan Turner and Bailey Turner.  Her great grandchildren Landon Baker, Lila and Royce Colburn, and Carter Boudreau.  Her siblings Becky Simino, Cynthia Swett, Erward and Claire Perron, Gloria and Larry Conley, Edward and Donna Perron, Theresa and Larry Janowski, Noella and Donald Cotnoir, Mark Perron, Lenwood and Tami Perron, Georgette and Peter Knight, Regina Cole, and sister-in-law Linda Conley.

She was pre-deceased by her parents Roger and Blanche Perron, mother-in-law Clarabelle Conley and her partner Durward Loomis, sister Joslyn Perron, infant brother Alfred Perron, brother-in-law Rodney Conley, and brother-in-law Raymond Conley.

Lillian also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and special friends who loved her dearly.

I dare say that my mother, Serena Cosgrove, was one Lillian's best friends, as they lived next door to each other. I know that my Mom would be both saddened that Lillian had died, and gladdened knowing that she would be seeing Lillian in Heaven. They have so much to talk about. In sadness and with respect, Bill Jameson. Derby...

I am so sad to learn of Lillian's death. I got to know her when I worked at Barton Graded School. Once I brought lasagna for a pot-luck at school, and Lillian told me I could work in her kitchen any time. Last time I saw her was about 14 years ago, when my two older grandchildren and I brought her a lily bulb to plant. She knew me then by my name Judy Lium. I cherish my memories of time spent with Lillian and send all of you my condolences.

My heart breaks for all of you. There are not enough kind words to describe the incredible person that Lillian was to not only her family but everyone she came in contact with. My first encounter with Lillian was when she and Royce became Frank and my very FIRST tax client when we opened our office in Barton which is where Community Bank is now. Royce and Lillian were not only our first clients but our longest ones over the years. Frank and I became very close to them over the years as with we did the whole family. Hard to believe Frank has been gone 10 years ! Lillian was the kindest most generous person I have ever encountered. I know she will be missed by so many but she now has her wings and she’s in the arms of Jesus and her heavenly HOME .

Lillian was a true loving friend. She always put others before herself. When it became hard for me to get around, she would come and give me a ride as she did for others. Many a time she would bring over her delicious donuts or rolls. Lillian always made sure that we had flowers on the tables at our Womens Union luncheons. It was the little things she did that showed her love for all. I will miss her so very much.

Lillian is going to be missed by so many. She and Rick had a great visit at the eye doctor 4 days before he died and reminisced about riding the bus together and arguing over who liked the “best” baseball team. Always friendly, helpful, and a truly wonderful person. RIP Lillian, the heavens needed another angel!

My sister. What keeps coming to mind is she was selfless - Heart, Mind, and Soul. She loved her family with all her Heart, her husband, her children, every grandchild, her great grandchildren, her brothers and sisters, her aunts and uncles, parents and grandparents. She kept her Mind filled with thoughts of how to serve others, be it her neighbors, her church family, someone in town who needed help, the school, children that were not hers, and of course her family. And now her Soul - she had a soul of a servant, service to God, service to family, and service to others with all her heart, with all her mind and with all her soul. She will be severely missed.
