2024
With saddened hearts, we honor and celebrate the life of Lionel Xavier “Lonnie” Myers, who was born on November 24, 1968, in Charleston, South Carolina. Lonnie was the beloved son of the late James Myers and Joann Myers. Though his parents preceded him in death, Lonnie was surrounded by an abundance of love throughout his life.
For over 50 years, Lonnie lived at the Coastal Center, where his bright smile and infectious joy made an impact on all who knew him. His gentle spirit and constant happiness were gifts that he shared with everyone around him, and his presence always brought light to those who crossed his path.
On September 15, 2024, Lonnie peacefully transitioned from this life in Summerville, South Carolina.
His memory will forever be cherished by his two sisters, Tonya Myers-Bibbins (Lawrence) and Avonne Myers-Foote (Avon), along with a large, loving extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
In addition to his family, Lonnie leaves behind the dedicated and compassionate community at the Coastal Center, who cared for and loved him deeply. His presence there for five decades made him a beloved part of their family, and he will be greatly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him. Among his most cherished relationships was his dear and special friend Ericka Scott, who fondly called him her “husband.”
Lonnie’s warmth, laughter, and unwavering joy will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be truly missed, but his memory will continue to inspire love and happiness in those left behind.
Rest in peace, Lonnie. You are forever in our hearts.
All services will be private.
Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
